Mexico 2012

In June 2012, we spent four week studying sulfide spring fishes in souther Mexico on an NSF sponsored expedition. One key goal of the trip was to rediscover the long lost Poecilia thermalis, which turned out to inhabit a sulfide spring (see pictures below).

We are indepted to Lenin Arias Rodriguez (UJAT), whose logistical support helped to make this trip a great success. We are also thankful to Dra. Ana Luisa Bustos Ramon and the staff at the Centro de Investigacion e Innovacion para la Ensenanza y el Aprendizaje (CIIEA) in Teapa, who provided us with excellent facilities for our research.
