Oklahoma has a diverse crayfish fauna, including several endangered species. We are currently working on determining factors influencing crayfish distributions in Oklahoma and adjacent states using ecological niche modeling. Based on distributional analyses, we are testing for correlations between environmental conditions and morphological and physiological traits to test basic hypotheses of crayfish diversification. Finally, we are using stable isotope analyses to test for trophic niche differentiation in multiple assemblages of sympatric crayfish species.
During past projects, we were working with Chris Lukhaup to generate a picture catalogue of Oklahoma crayfishes. Chris’ pictures were already used for a poster of the Oklahoma Biological Survey. In the gallery below you can find pictures of almost all crayfish species from Oklahoma.
