In October, our team joined biologists from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Missouri Department of Conservation, and the SEMO Grotto to continue annual monitoring of the endangered grotto sculpin in Perry County, MO. We surveyed several key caves, including Streiler City Cave, Crevice Cave, Running Bull Cave, and the Moore Cave System.
Across these sites, we conducted standard habitat assessments, counted sculpins, and collected samples for laboratory analyses. These data help track population trends, document habitat conditions, and guide ongoing conservation efforts for this uniquely adapted cave fish.
